Meet the Peer Educators

Riley Vollmer is a 3rd year Communications student and is going to be your resident blogger.  She not only enjoys writing about health topics, but has a strong interest in researching interesting new health topics.  Besides working at the Wellness Center, Riley maintains an active lifestyle enjoying all kinds of fitness and reading up on the latest practices. Because of this, she is very interested in both wellness and fitness, also focusing on maintaining a healthy stress free life.  In the future Riley hopes to consider sales or further her education in Health Communication. She enjoys talking with others about healthy lifestyle techniques so tell us about your healthy choices, this is the place to do it!

Jess Lonzo is a 4th year, planning to be a super senior in Social Work specializing in child welfare. Her favorite topic to talk about and research at the Wellness Center is sex, but who doesn't love talking about sex. It probably fits her best, not because she is an expert in bed or anything, although it would be nice, but more because it's different for everyone and everyone has a different experience with sex and how they view it. She is the best at breaking that "talking about sex" taboo so we can learn from each others experiences and being comfortable talking about what goes on under the sheets makes it easier to discuss boundaries, consent, and of course satisfaction!

Fran Urbina is a third year Dietetics student. Her favorite wellness topics are nutrition, fitness, and alcohol, to name a few, but she enjoys all aspects of wellness. She enjoys these topics because of her detailed knowledge of nutrition and how foods, beverages, and physical activity affect the body. Other than working at the Student Wellness Center as a HealthyU Peer Educator, Fran enjoys cooking and doing yoga. After college, she plans to go to graduate school to obtain her RD-MPH, and afterwards her PhD.

Perin Acito is a third year Dietetics major. While thoroughly enjoying all topics that the Wellness Center encompasses, her "specialty" area is nutrition and fitness. Her favorite aspect about her position as a Peer Educator is being able to go out and actually work face-to-face with her peers. After she graduates and receives her Registered Dietitian license, Perin wants to work in a clinical setting where she can personally consult with her patients. Perin enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and spending her extra time with family and friends. If you ever see her out tabling for the SWC, be sure to stop by and say hello!

Morgan Cummins is a third year Middle School Education major with a focus on math and social studies. She enjoys researching and discussing all health and wellness topics but her favorites are sexual health and alcohol. She is all for having a blast in college, but doing it smart is what she loves to share with her fellow peers without being a party pooper. Other than being a HealthyU Peer Educator, she also works as a student aid at the UC Child Care Center. She loves working with kids, traveling, and shopping to name a few.

Andrea Parker is a second year social work major. Her favorite thing about being a Peer Educator is helping peers with the same issues she's facing. The topics Andrea is most interested in are stress, sexual health, and body image. Along with working at the SWC Andrea is involved with Nellie's Catwalk for Kids, a nonprofit that helps raise awareness for pediactric cancer. She also loves babysitting, spending time with family and friends, and reading up on all the latest celeb gossip. After college Andrea plans to go to graduate school so she can become a Child Life Specialist.

Tiffany Stainfield is a fourth year philosophy pre-medical student. From a health and wellness standpoint, Tiffany enjoys exploring social heath, specifically the sexual and alcohol culture that exists on college campuses. Her favorite way to contribute to the Student Wellness Center is organizing and implementing new programming, from getting things done in the office to finding new ways to reach diverse groups in UC's community. After her undergraduate career is over, Tiffany plans on attending medical school and pursuing her dreams as a physician. Tiffany loves to always keep busy while at the UC Student Wellness Center and CCHMC as a Scribe, enjoys going home to Toledo to visit friends and family, and meeting new people! Be sure to say hi if you see her around!
